do this but dont do this... AAAHHHHHH!!!

Ok, I have read a lot of freggin' threads and there is just sooo much stuff to do to a Wii that im about ready to scream. Do this but not this. Install this but not with this update. Its so damn confusing.. There are 2 things im interested in:

1.) I want a couple of the old games that are on the Wii shop channel. Original mario bros, donkey kong country..etc.. Now, before some of you start yelling saying "then pay for them" I want to voice my opion and say that these games are 25 years old. The designers have made there money therefore, I shouldnt have to pay for them. I have however paid for games like The New Super Mario Brothers, Lego Star Wars etc.. and people should pay for them. Isnt there just some website that I can get those games from, put it on a sd card, copy it to the Wii and play it without installing homebrew, indianapwns, bannerbomb, twilight, HackMii or Bootmii??? (see what I mean) I would assume I would get them from some file sharing website like utorrent, pirate bay or even limewire?

2.) I am on my 3rd copy of The New Super Mario Brothers (staring at daughter) and would like my Wii to play backups. Will any of the above software I mentioned allow me to play backups or should I invest in a Wii Drive Key? They look easy as hell to install but would they interfere with the software I probably have to install to get those old games I want to play?

I have a white console, I live in the USA, my system version is 4.2u and my serial number is: LU66315XX[X]

    Thanks...

To play the game that on wii shop and backups, you need to have wii homebrew first because you need homebrew to installed all of this.

    1. You cannot install VC or Wiiware content via SD card without modding your console.

    2. If you can be patient, read and follow the directions without skipping around, and have the ability to troubleshoot any issues that may arise by researching, -- and I'm not suggesting you can't do any of these -- then you can follow one of the 4.2 softmod guides in the Tutorials section to play your backups. Get a modchip if you don't like reading and don't need the money.

If you decide to follow Ithian's advice (strictly your decision, your risk) you would then be able to install your wanted older games with a WAD manager. As for your second question, WiiWare (Donkey Kong Country, etc) and Wii Game Backups are independant and compatible with one another.

Ok, so I need to have Zelda or Lego Indiana Jones to install homebrew because I have already updated to 4.2, correct?

You need to go to the guides section and look for a 4.2 softmod guide.

Guess you missed this. Here it is again:

then you can follow one of the 4.2 softmod guides in the Tutorials section to play your backups.
All instructions are contained in there. Twilight hack and IndianaPwns are unnecessary.

Just follow Messie's 4.2 guide in the tutorials section. If you follow it and do as it says, you will be fine. Then you can play backup games from an external hard drive using USB Loader GX and you will also be able to install emulators to play every NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, and many other console games ever made.

Stop reading so much and hit the tutorials section.
