Having Trouble updating cIOS36rev10 to cIOS38rev17

Ok I was trying to do this using WAD Manager 1.5
I have the file cIOS38-64-v3867.wad on the root of my SD card. When I run the WAD manager it asks me what IOS version to use. Do I want to say 38 because that's the new one I want to use? Or do I say 249 because that's the IOS that it's going to overwrite correct? I've tried this on both 249 and 38. They both say that they install correctly. So I exit the WAD Manager and start up NeoGamma and it tells me right away that I have cIOS rev 10 and that i need rev 17 for best compatibility so i know my install was done incorrectly. I also downloaded a file called cIOS38 rev17 installer.dol but I have no idea what to do with this or if I need it? If someone could point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it. I've read so much different guides and faqs but nothing has helped. Thanks in advance.

Rename cIOS38rev17_installer.dol to boot.dol and place in a folder (name this folder whatever you like) within the apps folder on your card. Like this:
    SD:\apps\cIOS38Rev17 Installer\boot.dol

With IOS38-64-v3867.wad at the root of the SD card, run your cIOS38 folder above directly through HBC, do not use wad manager. If it asks use IOS249 to install and select Wad installation, wait for it to finish and once you've returned past the HBC screen, power down and reboot the console. The cIOS should now be properly installed.

Unbelievable. That worked. Thanks for the great easy to follow instructions. It installed and now all of the games that wouldn't work previously have no trouble now. Thanks again. Very greatly appreciated.
