    Softmod guide for 4.2E

After trial and error i have found this way of softmoding Wii´s Have testet it on 3 different Wiis and i have not had any problems doing it this way.

    Softmoding Wii System v4.2E
    By Matrix MkI

I take no responsibility for the use or misuse of this guide or any bricking or damage to your Wii. . Upgrading the wii is dangerous and can cause your wii to get bricked. Leaving you with a dead Wii.

    Needed software:

    • bannerbomb
    • Hackmii
    • Trucha bug restorer mod (for system v4.2E)
    • Any title deleter
    • Waninkoko cIOS38 rev14 installer
    • Hermes cIOS 222/223 v4
    Software for running backups:
    • Neo6
    • USBLoaderGX[/INDENT]
    Unzip all programs.
Place Trucha bug restorer mod , Any title deleter, Wannako cIOS38 installer V2 and Hermes cIOS 222/223 v4 (and Neo6 and USBLoaderGX) in /apps folder on the sd card.
Rename Hackmii to boot.elf and place it on the root of the sdcard.
Place the bannerbomb folder (private) on the root of your sdcard.
The sd card should look something like this:
    boot.elf
    apps
    private

Put the sd card in the Wii and turn the Wii on:

    Installation of the software:

1 Run bannerbomb by selecting sd icon and select yes
2 Install Bootmii as boot2 if possible
    3 Reboot
4 Backup Wii using Bootmii. Copy the keys.bin and nand.bin to your PC. If something goes wrong you can use Bootmii and these two files to restore your Wii.(you can navigate in Bootmii only using a GC controller or the buttons in front of your Wii)
5 Check network connection. Will use network to download IOS
6 Run bannerbomb by selecting the SD icon and select yes
7 Install Homebrew channel and dvdx
    8 Exit
9 Run trucha bug restorer mod (NB! Do not touch any keys on your wiimote before the program tells you to do so, or else the program will quit)
    - Select load IOS15
    - Select downgrade IOS15
    - Select download IOS from NUS twice
    - Follow instruction on screen
10 Run trucha bug restorer mod
    - Select IOS to load 15
    - Select IOS 36 menu
    - Select Install IOS to slot 36 with the following settings:
    • Patch hash check: yes
    • Patch ES_IDENTITY: yes
    • Patch Nand perm: no
    - Download ios from nus
    - Follow instruction on screen
11 Run any title delete db
    - Just ignore all errors on screen press A tree times
    - In system titles delete the following ios
    • IOS 250
    • IOS 249
    • IOS 223
    • IOS 222
    • IOS 37 NB this one can be dangerous but is needed if you try to install IOS 37 from the truncha bug restorer mod and you get an error while installing it
If some of the IOS´s above doesn’t show up in the list it mean the slot is already empty.
12 Run Waninkoko cIOS 38rev14 installer
    - Select IOS to use: IOS36
    - Select network installation
13 Run Trucha bug restorer mod
    - Select IOS 36
    - Select IOS 37 Menu
    - Select Install IOS to slot 36 with the following settings:
    • Patch hash check: yes
    • Patch ES_IDENTITY no
    • Patch Nand perm: no
    - Download ios from nus
    - Follow instruction on screen
14 Run Trucha bug restorer mod
    - Select Load IOS15
    - Restore IOS15
    - Select Download from nus
    15 Run cIOS 222/223 Hermes v4
    - Use IOS249
    - Select IOS 202 and install IOS 36
    - Select IOS 222 and install IOS 36 merged with IOS 37
    - Select IOS 223 and install IOS 36 merged with IOS 60

Your Wii is now softmoded and is ready for installing Neo6 (for playing backup DVDs) and USBLoaderGX (For playing backups from HDD)
Install Neo6 and USBLoaderGX using IOS 249. Remember to use the usb on the left side (when look on Wii from the front.) Using this guide I have been able to play all my backups including SSBB, Guitar Hero, Lego Rock band and all Mario games.

It is also a good idea to make another backup of your system. But make sure not to delete your original nand backup. Keep both of them. If you by accident upgrade your Wii and your softmod stops working then you can restore it.
