change language of 4.2J to english

    Hi,
I have firmware 4.2J installed and I would like to change the Japanese language to english. Is there any way to change my system menu to 4.2U or 4.2E ?
I could see such guides for older firmware but not for 4.2.
    Thanks,
    Asih.

I don't know for certain, but can't you change the preferred language in the system menu?

No, the Japanese version does not have an option to change language.

I used google for you, and the first search option is probably the best option. Here is the link for google: system menu change wii - Google zoeken And here is the link for your guide: Guide to Changing your Wii's Region and System Menu - WiiNewz - Nintendo Wii Modchip & Hacking Community

See. Using search options will help, always!

And Messie, if you use this:http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...-question.html. Is this better?

And Asih. Don't try this if you don't have Bootmii installed as Boot2. 1 mistake and your Wii is fully bricked.

    Thanks for your help.
The last link looks good but maybe too advanced for me as I'm not sure I understand how to perform all these steps.

hmm the last one looks plausible but I have no idea if it will brick you or even work... MAYBE (with many questionmarks) you can downgrade to 4.1 by installing sysmenu ios60 and system menu as a wad but again it might brick you.

    Hi messie
So if you have a older wii with 4.2j is that a better to do than a newer wii with 4.2j (less chance of brick)?

run the new DOP-ios mod v11 from wiibrew and see what kind of boot2 you have. if you have boot2v4 you should be ok, but still many chances of a brick. Theoretically it would work even with boot2v5, if you downgraded to 4.1.
