    500gb WBFS limit? ISO size?

I have read a few times that the wii can only see 500gb wbfs partitions using a usb loader. Well, I am fast approaching that amount and soon to get a 1tb drive. Do you just create multiple wbfs partitions just under 500gb?

If a game iso is loaded to the drive using wbfs manager, does it strip the empty space from the file? Therefore allowing more games to fit on the drive? All my games were ripped using the loader and are also backed up on pc via wbfs manager. They are all full size.

    Thanks

yes you will need to partition it into two seperate drives. 500 each just when you use wfbs manager just be sure to select the right one. when you play in USB Loader GX it will pick them both up.

Wiiflow did not pick up a 2nd WBFS partition, i had to join them together as one 750GB, works fine so far.
Thank me or Spank me but leave some feedback

ok, just to be clear, USB Loader GX needs multiple partitions below 500gb, but Wiiflow can read at least one 750gb partition? So it isn't the Wii that cant read over 500gb, it is dependent on the loader?

Typically an iso will be just over 4 gig when on your pc.

when transfered to a WBFS formated drive they can reduce in size to less than 1gb in some cases.

If you have a 1 TB drive partioned into 2 or mre wbfs partions and you fill that with backups .................your just greedy and have way too much time on your hands..

    only joking pal. :-)

You will find it is a 500 game limit and not a 500 GB limit.

Don't worry about the size of the drive, worry more about the content and keep it to less than 500 games.

Yes, Ifc4ever is correct. WBFS Mgr has a 500 file limit, but officially supports up to 1TB HDD partitions. Unofficially, the 1,5TB WD and Seagates are reporting little problem. Estimate about 2-3 GB for each Wii game. Examples: NSMB 0.39GB, James Cameron's Avatar 1.75GB, Cursed Mt 3.84GB, Cooking Mama 0.78GB.
