running games from a usb hd

i've been burning dvd's and would like to do the usb way. first it says check usb compatibility in the guide, but it does not tell us what to do if it is not compatible or what will happen. any ideas?
second, can i play scrubbed isos using this method? or do i need to make teh scrubbed iso become the 4.3gb image first?

    thanks

also i've attempted to do this before, and i noticed just getting to the screen to the usb contents took a long time as oppsoed to neogamma being right on the home page. any tips on how to make it faster or did i screw up then?

If a HDD is not compatible, it either will not be recognized by the Wii or will ot be stable and you will lose your games a sometime.

You can just transfer a scrubbed ISO to the WBFS-formatted HDD partition using WBFS Mgr.

Install a wad version of the USB Loader you are using and then it will be installed as channel on the system menu, too.

Western digital is a good brand to go with, if its not compatible then wii won't recognize it, yea scrubbed isos are fine, wbfs manager removes the update partion automaticaly. you could always install the usb gx wad for the channel, or even make channel forwarders for the usb.

USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTemp

Usb compatibility list. If it doesn't work then it suggests get a different one. It makes sense to check the list first before buying.

I'm pretty sure scrubbed will work too.

During the installation of USBLOADER GX you choose between two different install types. I did both so now USB Loader is on my Wii System Menu start up. Click on the channel and select what game you want to play..

Make sure to get WBFS Manager. Google it

@marcher - WBFS Mgr is provided in the USB HDD Guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-usb-hdd.html
