disc read error 1051 and 972 and timeout

i have just moded a wii for a friend and i am having some problems. i used the guide HERE and everything went well.

now my problem begins with trying to play a backup game. i have tryed neogamma r8 and i get the 1051 error. and with neogamma r6 i get the 972 error. now when i try the game it just says timeout on the r6 neogamma. i know these are working games cause i play them on my wii. any help would be appreciated.

Error index says either bad burn or out of date IOS, seeings you knocked out the disc being bad, maybe try getting new versions of the IOS's. If its not that either, how new is his wii? could it be a D3-2?
