    A usb question

I have just read a post regarding the loading of wii games on a small 1gb SD card.

Obviously it wont work due to the size.

He has no USB Drive at the moment.

    My question is this:

Can you plug in a usb card reader into one of the USB ports on the console and run a large formated SD card with wii games on whilst using the wii sd slot to run HBC and a USB loader?

    Purely asked out of interest.

Yeah, if its compatible. With harddrives its hit or miss, same with usb keys and even sd readers.

You'd just have to try it.

I've done it several times. I have an 8gb micro sd that I plug into a usb card reader. It will run games if it's formatted as wbfs. And his 1g might work. Many, many games come in under 1 gb after being added by wbfs manager. NSMB is like .38 I think?

Yeah I thought that may be the case regarding the drop in file size in wbfs.
I assume the guy in question only has the one sd card and no sd reader to plug in.

he wouldn't be able to run his sd apps in order to access the card in the sd slot would he?

I'm not sure if I follow... For discussion's purposes, let's assume he has an 1gb micro sd and a usb reader, and a regular sd card. In that case, he can put his operating information on the regular sd in the sd slot or on the micro and have it accessed via usb. Or are you asking if he could do both on the same card at the same time? I don't know about the SD aspect (can you run games through the SD peripheral?), but if his micro were large enough, he could run them both off the same micro sd/usb. He would have to format the game portion to wbfs, and the os portion as fat32 or ntsb, but I don't think it would be any different than putting your os information on a non-wbfs partition of your hdd, in which case you need no sd at all.
Am I even close to what you were talking about?

I think he only has the one card and no usb reader.

I am totally with you. I think I may have confused matters.

He was wondering if he could load wii games on an sd he was using for HBC apps in his SD slot.

I know he could possibly do it from a usb card reader if he had one and another sd card because it would simply be a small usb drive.

    Sorry if I am confusing you.............I'm tired........ahhhh.
