    usb loader help

I have done fantastic up to this point. Everything is good, the WBFS Manager is on my computer and I even uploaded a game to my ehd. Now comes the usb loader. First question....there are 3 things to copy to my SD card. CIOS38-rev14 installer, Hermes-cios 222 installer and usbloader-gx. When I put them on my SD card, each has a boot.dol so it askes me if I want to replace the prior one or rename it?? Which do I choose? Maybe I dont need all three??
Right now there is a cIOS38-rev17 on my homebrew but Im told to do the rev14 which I cant seem to get onto my wii.
Im immensely confused right now and I have followed all the instructions so closely (I thought) I juat need the wii last part....the wii to get things from the usb. I have a western digital. Thanks for any help.

Yea you are confusing me. You have done fantastic up to this point, what point? if you softmodded your wii then you should have a cios installed. these .dol files should be inside seperate folders that go into the apps folder.

    sd:/apps/ the folder/boot.dol

I have softmodded the wii and now Im trying to use the ehd for games.
When I put the files on my SD card, now the wii just freezes up. I never get to the pointg where I install anything and when I did before the freezing happened, there was no option for installing the usb loader to the wii. I hope it makes sense to you

Hi sorry it was late last night in the UK & I had to go to bed.

I hope you have coped ok with your mod.

I would uninstall the HBC & Bootmii. From your wii using
    the hackmii installer.

Make sure you get the correct version of the Bannerbomb. abd6a_v200.zip for 4.2

Get the Hackmii installer V0.6 to uninstall HBC & Bootmii.

Then Reinstall them. At This Point Take a BACKUP with Bootmii. of your NAND. There is no point donig a backup before you start as something isn't working properly.
Don't worry if there is small number of bad blocks.
Make sure you save this backup to your SD card and I always copy it to my PC too just in case.

When you say it freezes, do you mean your TV screen is stuck on the Bootmii page?
If you do mean this, it's not frozen. You can only navigate on this page with the wii console buttons.(Not the wiimote buttons)
    Power/Reset/Eject
    Power moves along the menu.
    Reset opens your selection
I can't remember what eject is but you wont need that.

From then on you should follow the tutorial.

As I say pay close attention to naming folders and make sure you have all the correct folder paths in place.
Pay special attention when using the NUS downloader when you are getting the wad files.
ie: Using "Pack Wad" & Not Using "Pack Wad" Selections

Any problems PM me and I will try to help if I can.

I have redone everything. Im up to this point in the tutorial and have no idea how to create a directory on my sd card. Any help is greatly appreciated. Im almost at the end of the tut and everything seems to have gone well. Thank you!!

    Create a directory sd:/apps/ios249
Unzip cIOS38_rev17-Installer.dol and copy it to sd:/apps/ios249
    Rename cIOS38_rev17-Installer.dol to boot.dol
Thus, the file from the zip should now have a copy at sd:/apps/ios249/boot.dol

    To create a directory.

It sound complicated but it simply means make a folder.

    You Have Your SD Card

    SD:\

If You make a folder in that and Name it apps

    It is then SD:\apps

If you put a folder in that and call it IOS249

    It Look like SD:\apps\IOS249

This is what a directory is. It is no more than the names of folders and where thay are.

When you have extracted the file called cIOS38_rev17-Installer.dol

It goes in the folder called 'IOS249', which is in the 'apps' folder which is in SD:\

Once you have moved this file into IOS249 rename it to boot.dol

    Then proceed with the tutorial

Thank you for clearing that up! Your explanation makes sense. One hopefully last question....there is already an apps folder on my sd card with
    CIoS installer, hbc...
    TBR and wad manager.
Do I delete this folder to make the new apps folder on the SD or do I still need the old apps folder for anything?
    Thanks once again

You can keep this apps folder as it is if you want to or think you need any of the files in it.

Make sure you don't use the wrong cios application when you are doing the mod. If you arent using the Cios installer which is on your SD card for this mod, rename the folder or delete it

Otherwise, Just Make a folder in this one called IUOS249 and put the cIOS38_rev17-Installer.dol in that. Dont forget to call it boot.dol
