Do I install Wii Fit using IOS249 or IOS222?

I have a softmodded Wii following the guide here, my Wii is 4.1e. I use WiiFlow.

Okay so I learnt today that if I wanna run Smash Bros and play the Subspace mode without it crashing on the cutscenes, I needed to install the game using the WiiFlow 222 channel. I mistakenly installed Smash Bros with the normal WiiFlow 249 channel, and even though I installed Hermes 222/223 it still would crash. So I deleted it, and reinstalled it using the WiiFlow 222 channel and now it works like a charm.

Now I understand that if I want to play Wii Fit, using the balance board, I need to use the spare USB on the Wii which I can if run the game using IOS222.

I have the retail version of Wii Fit so I won't download it. What I wanna know is, shall I install it using the WiiFlow 249 channel or WiiFlow 222 channel? I know that the game needs to be running in IOS222, but does that mean I have to install it using the WiiFlow channel? Will it make a difference either way?

The reason I am asking here and not trying it myself through trial and error is because it is also a general question - any game that needs USB peripherals, shall I install it with WiiFlow 249 or Wiiflow 222? I already know the game needs to be running in IOS222, but installing it is a whole different matter.

Sorry for such a long post lol, hope it doesn't put anyone off reading.

Install it? I would suggest you keep your options open and have both versions of the loader if that's how it works. you click on the loader and launch the game. I don't know how and why you would install a game. Yes the additional usb port works better with hermes 222.

Sorry, when I say install the game I mean dump the game from disc to hard drive. WiiFlow uses the word "install" for that process.

So for example, I have the retail SSBB. When I "install" it to my hard drive using WiiFlow 249, it crashes after the first level completion EVEN if I run the game using IOS222. However, if I install the game using WiiFlow 222, the game works perfectly. From this, I have gathered that all dual layer games must be installed to the hard drive using WiiFlow 222.

So the question I am asking is, is that the same for all games that use USB peripherals? Or is that a different matter completely?

I doubt that the way I am wording it is clear enough for anyone to understand lol but I have my hopes up

Wii Fit board isn't USB, it uses IR like Wiimote. I got one laying on the floor not 12 inches from me... the better half hasn't said squat about USB connectivity required (though I did have to sync it per instructions, which is a PITA as the the program must be running and in the mode to sync up with it). It's not like a regular Wiimote sync job, exactly...

    Oh right.. my bad, sorry.

Other games that require USB (instruments) what about those then? Shall I install using WiiFlow 249 or WiiFlow 222?

As for the Wii Fit thing, would I find the guide to sync on this forum? Thanks

If you're using say USB HD and want to use USB instruments, Hermes is the way (which you correctly surmised on another post/thread you did).

Well, since it's a piece of hardware I would assume you have the manual which details this...

Keep in mind that you can change the IOS used to load a game at any time in the individual game's settings, unless you're using an old revision of Wiiflow. So installing with one IOS or the other can be easily remedied by forcing the game to load with a different IOS.

Oh right, the way you worded it I thought you meant there are special instructions lol to sync it if you're using a USB Loader. So it syncs just normally as it would as if I put the real disc in?

I have the latest WiiFlow. What I found out on another thread located here, and also through my own trial and errors, however, is that even if I change the IOS to load in 222, Smash Bros Brawl still won't work because I installed it to the Hard Drive using WiiFlow 249. I had to delete the game and reinstall it using the other WiiFlow 222 channel. Only then will it work by loading the game using IOS222.

What you could do is redump the game using a revision of cIOS38 that doesn't have broken DL support. Right now the best options for that would probably be revs 12, 13a, or the newly released 17. Doing this would afford you the option of not worrying about which version you load from in the future. It doesn't sound like you're experiencing anything "game breaking" at the moment, but food for thought if you get bored.
