Us Help with Gamecube Backup Disc Errors.

Hello, again. This must be my one hundrendth post begging for help.

I have been playing Gamecube backups, but only a very small portion of them work. I've checked the compatibility list, so I know that is not the problem. For probably one in every three games, I get an error that says, "An error has occured. Turn the power off and refer to the Ninendo GameCube Instruction Booklet for further instructions." The error comes from the game, not the loader, as each error is in a different font for each game.

    I used this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/software-bac...tml#post149779

After I cIOS38 Rev14 installed, I used NeoGamma to launch. Like I said, some games work, so I know I did something right, but I'm sure more games should work.

I've tried using GC Backup Launcher thru the HBC, but the screen just freezes and I have to reboot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried reburning any of the discs that are giving you problems? If you're sure that the problem games should work, and you do get some games to work then I would say that you are having problems burning discs or some discs are faulty out of the package.

this is how I burn discs
    1. burn at 4x
    2. verify the burn, to assure the disc is good and the burn matches the ISO
    3. no multi tasking while burning, no touching the mouse while burning
    4. make sure the screen saver or virus scanner no start running while burning

Yes, I have tried that. I've even burned some that I put on a MultiGame disc onto their own disc, but that didn't work, either. I even tried taking out the memory card, just in case it was corrupt, but that didn't work, either.

It still sounds like a disc problem. If you're playing game cube games then you have the MIOS patched, which is all you need hacked to play backup game cube games. A good compatible loader, which you have. You could have a faulty Wii, but I'm not going there. That leaves on thing, the disc. It's either a faulty disc, faulty burn, or a faulty ISO. If you think it may help, try reinstalling your cIOS38 rev14, and reinstalling the cMIOS rev3. Try various different loaders, Neogamma, Gamma 0.3, GC backup launcher 0.2 and GC backup launcher 0.1 Xi. Sometimes it helps to have the ISO the same region as your Wii. If you're not using DVD-R Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs, then it could be the media. Also, just a thought, try burning the disc with a different burner if you have one.

Thanks for the help (once again), Stomp_442. I reinstalled the cIOS and the cMIOS. Unfortunately, I only have one computer, so I can't burn from a different drive. I might buy new discs next time I'm at the store. I use Memorex DVD-R, but have never had a problem with it. Also, I know that you know MUCH, MUCH more about all of this than I do, but I still have doubts that the disc is the problem. And the only reason I guess that is because if I make a multigame disc, at least one of the games usually does work. I would try the GC Backup Launcher, but every time I run it in the HBC, it just freezes. I've installed the appropriate IOSs, but it doesn't work for me. Maybe I'm just doomed to never play backup GC games. Sigh.

Okay. I did a little searching and found a .wad version of GC Launcher 0.2. It flickers like mad (just like the HBC version). But when I push "A" to load the game, it works--even loading the games that had disc errors when I ran them from NeoGamma. Now the new problems--
    1. Like I said, the screen flickers so badly, I can't even read the screen when a disc loads. Not a huge problem, but still--I'd like to be able to view the settings and know which game I'm picking.
    2. For some reason, I can't load GC games from NeoGamma anymore. Not a big deal, either, as long as I can get the GB Backup Loader working.
    3. When using GC Backup Loader 0.2, the games are all in black and white for some reason. The ones that used to work normally in NeoGamma are black and white now, too. And I've checked that they are the proper region.

Does anyone know how to remedy any/all of these problems?
Thank you so much, guys. You all give and give, and I'm still not on track!

Nevermind. I did what I should have done in the first place and I LISTENED TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT!
Stomp_442 said I should try multiple loaders, but I didn't listen. Finally, I tried GB Backup Launcher 0.1 Xi and it worked brilliantly! I just figured that if 0.1 was older than 0.2, than it wouldn't work. So, a lesson for other newbies as dumb as me, LISTEN TO SENIOR MEMBERS!

Stomp_442, thank you so much for all your help and I am really sorry that you have to spend so much time trying to figure out my dumb mistakes. You're a good man.

Did you install the MIOS patcher with GC Backup Launcher 0.2? That was why they wouldnt load right for me also. I personally cannot get Neogamma to work, but backup launcher works fine.

I did. I can't imagine that I could have done it wrong. I've tried a couple of times and still couldn't get it to work, so I'll just have to move along to GC BL 0.1 Xi. Thank you, though.
