Ca USB loader and hard drive issues.

Thanx again for the great info on this site -- thank you every one.

The issue I am having is that I can get my back-up games working using USB GX loader when playing them from Flash drives or SD cards with a USB reader.

But I can not get them to work when installed on a hard drive.
The USB gx loader runs, the list of games appears but when a game is selected nothing loads.

What kind of harddrive is it, and how is it setup. By that i mean is it fat or ntsf or wbfs.

I have it formatted to wbfs and the games display you can click on them but they go to a blank screen and I then have to power down the wii. I have tried it with a seagate and a Maxtor hard drive, there being used through an external hard drive reader - and all the games in question work when played on a flash drive or SD card in USB reader. ?????????

When you say 'external hard drive reader' what exactly do you mean?

I ask because I have an external Hard Drive dock which allows me to put in an internal sata hard drive (like the ones from your desktop or laptop) and read it from a usb port.

I tried to use this with usb loader gx with no luck. The reason I think is because the USB dock is detected as a USB to Serial ATA bridge rather than an external hard drive (Windows 7 says this at least).

I tried with a dedicated external hard drive and all was well.

If you're using an external casing for the drives that might be the issue. I've only read about those being hit or miss, with the latter being the most common result.
