    Question General DVD drive help

Hey guys, Im fairly new to the wii modding scene but i have recently soft modded my wii and everything is great. I load my games of my usbhdd but i would like to make a rom dvd for my fce nes emulator. I put all of the roms onto the dvd and put it into the wii and it makes a clicking sound and fce ultra will not recognize the disk. Could i have one of the drives that don't read dvdr's?

Can you play DVDR games off the DVD drive or transfer them to your HDD from the Wii?

Prob with the way you are doing it is the drive prob needs to be writeable for game saves, so I would suggest a DVDR is not the best way, SD card or from your USB HDD is way more preferable.

look here, use ur wii serial
    Wii Drive Chip Database
D3-2 is the drive that does not read backups

There is a 50% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
And there is also a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E and covered in black glue

I must be burning the discs wrong?

sd method works great but the dvd is more ideal as i can put over 1000+ roms on it at once.

I think you will find that the software will not mount a DVD Drive (it being not writeable being the main factor as I suggested earlier), only SD or USB.

Go the WiiBrew Wiki and see if others created issues about that particular software, it's better to go to the source than what we think we know

^ they said the dvd must be burnt in iso 9660 format, trying that now and i'll let you guys know if it works.

Still couldn't get it to work, i'm guessing it's the emulator.

I tried burning roms to DVD a few times, that all it took before I gave up on that. Now I use the SD card for all my roms. I haven't seen where anybody has got this to work.
