    Couple of general questions

Hey guys, firstly thanks to all the guide writers, saved my life :P

I have a couple of questions mainly relating to hard/soft modding and the various updates/versions, please bare with me :P

    Firstly a few details:

I have a PAL Wii currently running version 4.1e and a Drivekey installed.

The drivekey is running SW v 1.0 and FPGA v 1.0.

So far i have been able to download and burn most games without a glitch.

    Questions :P :

    1. Can i update my Wii or the Drive key to any further versions?

    2. What is the easiest softmod that would help play some of the games i have been unable to get running as it is? I want to keep it fairly simple as i dont have the understanding needed to play around with it too much.

    3. Any way to get the new Super Mario Bros working? i either can't find a good iso, or am doing something wrong.

    Thanks in advance

There is a guide in the games section to patch that game.

I cant tell you about modchips but the 3.1-4.1 softmod guide is as simple as it gets.

Ahk, must have missed the guide.

Think softmodding is worth while? the drivekey seems to be alrite for most situations.
Any chance of messing something up / conflicts between drivekey and games that already run ok?

It is more than worth the while, you will wonder why you didn't do it before now.

Triiforce & USB HDD loaders are 2 of the best things that ever happened to the Wii

No conflicts, but you can mess it up, if you can take PCs apart and rebuild them resolving IRQ conflicts or have a decent knowledge of any OSs, then just take your time and read the thread through from start to finish in slow time.

If you are new to the terminolgy, then just take a bit longer and ask the questions before you get stuck if you ar enot sure what xxx or yyy means.

    Good luck, go for it.

Alrite ill have a good look into those 2. Im fine with PC's, i build them all the time and troubleshoot ect. But Wii's are over my head for the moment, i dont commit enough time to understanding it all and keeping up to date.

    Thanks for help!

when it boils down to it, it is more simular to a pc than just about anything and you will begin to understand why very quickly.

    Isn't it just.

I now FTP into my Wii and copy, delete, edit & move files around (from my PC to the Wii or from the SD card to the USB Drive) all while sat behind my PC, with my Wii remote close by.

And with the right software, you can aslo stream from your PC to the Wii and watch movies all day, it's a hard life!

:P i have a HTPC for all that, but the idea of having a external USB drive to i can just copy iso's to is an appealing prospect. Will definitely look into it more thoroughly.

    EDIT:

What are the downside to USB loaders? Best loader if all i want it to copy iso's from PC onto USB to be run on the Wii? Do they play the same iso's that im burning to disk at the moment? Plays NTSC and PAL?
