    Confused Newbie..."Timeout" error

Hey all...We just got our Wii for Xmas...I am not sure what FW came installed as I set it up and downloaded 4.2 immediately....I have the Homebrew CH and the latest Gamma CH....I was getting Disk read error 1101....I burned slower...I now get a "timeout" error...I am about to delete everything....In one post I think I read that the new Wii's do not play backed up disks...Is this true? Would USB or SD make a difference....I know the game ISO is good....The BootMii says it is not there when I try to open it....thanks

The new wii consoles are coming out with the d2-3 chip that will not allow for backups from disks, and you would need to use sd/usb devices.

The bootmi folder needs to be in the root of the sd card for it to work.

Well I didn't tell you to delete everything. You need the bootmi folder to access bootmi and at some point in time a nand backup as well. It is ok to remove somethings from the sd card as long as you back them up to your pc.

Ok, so heres my real deal....

Thanks again, I do have those files backed up on my PC....I am trying to put an ISO file on an empty 8gb Sandisk Cruzer and keep getting "destination is full, isert a new disk to continue"....Then it says there is not enough free space on the drive, which there is, it says it has 7.46gb free?....The file I am moving is 4.37gb?

I would download wbfs manager to format it wbfs, then use that app to select the iso and it will put it on the drive as well as possible shrink it down a bit for you.

Please stay with me, my friend...

Ok, so I did as you instructed...The program said the new file would be 1.07gb....When i check the properties it says 5.07gb is used....My drive's name is now in a foreign language? As are the files....Assuming this is normal....Why will it not play....The Wii tries to Mount USB unsuccessfully...I am in the US, this is a US Wii....The file is an ISO NTSC US file....Thank you...

You obviously are doing something wrong, should be as simple as i said. I cannot see what you are doing to tell you. If the iso is just a little over 1 gig than it makes no sense that over 5 gig is being used. Please reread the instructions.

    After reading the Tuit....

I am clueless and will try to start over....I did not do the soft-mod through this forum unfortunately, i just found this forum this morning....I will have to follow the guide....I have the HBC and NG is ios249 rev14...Where is the USB Loader GX?....I do not know...HBC, NG?....Is it what I am trying to launch with through NG channel, where i can mess with region and force settings?....Do iI need to change these?....The guide says to use the USB with the SD....Both of mine are in the back and I have tried both....The guide told me of fixes but how do i actually launch the game?....My best bet may be starting over

It sounds like you have what you need as far as softmodding goes and neogamma will work fine. No need to set region settings if it is of the same region as you are in but if you do need to you would set the region settings to force ntsc or wii. If you get a black screen it is probably an ios file needed, if it won't read the device it maybe incompatible , not all devices work for usb/sd. It sounds like the device isn't setup properly. Use windows to format it fat32, then use wbfs manager to format it wbfs and load the iso onto it.
