ok i figured out my issue. the partition i was using was not set as active, not sure why this makes a difference but it did. unfortunately you can not set a WBFS partition as active in windows, as windows does not recognize the file format. you must first delete the partition, then create a new partition but leave it RAW (dont format it), assign it a drive letter, then set the partition as active, THEN you can use WBFS manager to format it. if you format it first windows wont recognize it and thus will not allow you to do much of anything with it.

i wanted to make sure to post my solution here so others with the same problem may be able to find it. i know i lurked here for 3 days before i was able to figure it out.

    Guitar Hero 5..........................IOS56-64-v5146

v5146 is the version you need, if your IOS is above or below this select the version you need, you can always change it back afterwards if need be, just WRITE DOWN THE CHANGES YOU MAKE, so you can always undo the changes you have made then, and it is easy to get confused if you make many changes to your system

    Hope this helps
    Thank you once again.

Ok, after following your advice and using DOP-IOS, my system looks like this:

"IOS number", "Trucha bug", "Flash access", "Boot2 access", "Usb2.0 IOS tree"

"IOS250 (ver 65535)", Enabled, Disabled, Disabled, Enabled
"IOS249 (ver 14)", Enabled, Disabled, Disabled, Enabled
"IOS70 (ver 6687)", Disabled, Disabled, Disabled, Disabled
"IOS61 (ver 5405)", Disabled, Disabled, Disabled, Disabled

"IOS14 (ver 520)", Disabled, Disabled, Disabled, Disabled
"IOS13 (ver 273)", Disabled, Disabled, Disabled, Disabled
The result now is that Neogamma works and USB loader GX doesn't (one out of two isn't that bad, but I rather have it the other way around).

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games works using Neogamma! (I can't test any more ISOs, because I'm still waiting for some blank disks to arrive.)

I can't load the same iso (or any at all) through USB loader GX .
The program detects the disk, loads and displays all the games, but as soon as I choose and start one, I get a blank screen and it freezes.

I now it can be the hdd acting up, but if its showing the games, it should work, right?

    What do you guys think?
Install another USB loading software or install hermes IOS (I read somewhere it has a better USB support)?

Give Hermes a go, it does provide dual USB support and also multiple instrument support on games such as GH5 et. al.

    Hello once again.

First of all, sorry about the delay. Work is a pain and there's not too much time these last weeks.

I have everything up and running now. If you want you can update the tutorials and the guides since I think this info will help a lot more people:

Turns out any revision of USBloader-GX over 883 won't work with cIOS249, and since the last revision is 894, there's only two options:

    1 - Go back to USBloader-GX rev. 883, or;
    2 - Install cIOS222-rev4.

    I chose #2, and went with cIOS 222 (IOS38 merged with IOS37) and cIOS 223 (IOS38 merged with IOS60).

Changed USBloader settings to use 222 and that was it: everything is working 100%.

Thank you all for your help, and I hope this info is usefull to someone else.
