Using an external DVD drive with a USB Loader

External DVD?

Hi,

I have a softmodded 4.2E with the D3-2 drive so no backups in the internal Wii drive.

Currently running CFG USB Loader to run backups from HDD. Working great, but which USB Loader will let me use an external DVD drive?

Also with whichever loader I can run from Ext DVD, can i run backups burned from the iso, or do i still need to create a standard data disc with the *.wbfs files on it?

uloader 3.5 and higher version support USB DVD drives which you can get here

It runs backup dvds burned from isos as you probably want anyway since you mention it :)

Thanks, thats specifically the info i needed and all searches told me i could use uloader but not that it would run proper backups rather than data discs written with the *.wbfs file on...thanks for the info..gives me more choice wether to decide to buy a usb DVD or new larger 500Gb HDD :)

There's really only one choice there, and it isn't the USB DVD :p

Unless you already have loads of backups from the older model wii:)

But you can dump them all to your USB HDD, and still have room for 100s more.

Don't get stuck into thinking you must run the backups from only a USB DVD drive, using your PC you can get them to the USB HDD as well.

Yeah very true, I'll be getting a new USB HDD anyway, Im looking at a WD passport 500GB.

But dont think i can be assed to transfer the ones I already have...maybe in time.
