Playing retail / original games in general

I've been reading a lot about softmodding and about using backup loaders, and I'm able to play most backup ISOs on my Wii, but I'm just wondering: what happens when I buy or rent a game now? Should I never rent or buy another game and only download ISOs, or is there an easy way to block any and all updates made by original games (preloader??) and still be able to use the original game?

I often see questions about specific games (ISOs or original) but I'd like to have general advice regarding original games so I can have a good general approach to avoid bricking my Wii.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As long as you have preloader and or Use wiiscrubber to clean out the updates you should be fine.

    I still by games!

If you buy or rent original games then they will contain the Updates on the disk. If you rip the games yourself, you can use WiiScrubber to remove the update (or use Wii BrickBlocker).

If you have PreLoader or PriiLoader you can block the updates from the disk meaning your safe to use the original disks without fear of accidentally updating.

So with Preloader, I can just stick any original disc in the Wii and not worry about any updates? When it asks for an update, I just hit "OK"?

I'd rather do that than have to rip games each time and mess with Wii Scrubber, if my Preloader understanding is correct.

edit: is Preloader better than Priiloader? I'm no expert, so I want the easier one of the two, if they're somewhat equivalent.

With preloader installed and the hack s enabled it will not ask for an Update.
