So I did the twilight hack over a year ago.
Kind of forgot about my Wii for a while. Broke it out the other day, and I was pleasantly surprised there was an update to just about every app in HBC.
Anyway, I downloaded and installed the WAD game Muscle March, which if in case you didn't know is only available in Japan, so all the menus are in Japanese.
I got a screen with a bunch of Japanese letters that wouldn't respond to any of the regular buttons (I later found out it was trying to get me to plug in a nunchuck). So I pressed Menu. More Japanese I can't read. After fumbling around I apparently accidentally did a Wii Update.
So now WAD manager doesn't work, nor does reading from the SD card menu in the bottom left corner of the regular wii menu.
First I tried this tutorial:
Section A worked I guess, but WAD Manager still froze (disconnected my wiimote).
So I tried using the cios38rev14 installer. Not really sure what I did there, but I never got anything to work.
Tried section B. Homebrew was blank with no apps. Didn't have the BootMii option.
So finally after hours and hours of trial and error, I never got anywhere, so I just restored my backup SD from before I accidentally updated.
Turns out I did have bootmii from the beginning, but it doesn't work. Just disconnects my wiimote like WAD Manager does. These are the only two HBC programs I've noticed with this problem. Emulators still run fine.
I just want to be able to install WADs off of my SD! Also, I moved most of the ones I had on there to the SD menu, not knowing that that would screw me over and the SD menu would no longer work.
Please someone help! Will there be a fix? Are there any other options?
There are 2 guides to softmod the 4.2. If one doesn't work try the other.
Definitely updated to 4.2 which stripped out your hack. When you wiimote disconnects and IOS 249 fails, classic signs. What odd says, time to do the more difficult 4.2 hack
Lol, just go to the guides section of the forum and look for something indicating it is to softmod 4.2. I'm sure you can find it.
I tried step C, and get stuck on C6. There is never a "do not reload IOS" option.
I tried with IOS 249 and my Wii freezes. I unplug and try again and the screen goes black when I select BootMii.
I tried this tutorial:
But get stuck at 2B. The first time, I walked away and came back to a bunch of jumbled gibberish on the command line screen. I tried again and am getting error -116, which apparently means it can't connect to the internet...
I think I'm just screwed...again...
I guess my only hope at this point is for HBC to come out with an update that fixes this...but I guess I could be waiting a looong time...
