How to soft mod without internet connection on wii

    Hi
    I've got a virgin 4.0E. (2 weeks old)
I read on how to softmod 3.1-4.1 for any wii and they ask for internet connection on wii.

I do not have internet connection on wii but I do have on my PC.

I managed to install the HBC through bannerbomb(using a 2gig SD card) but that is the furthest that I have got. (I am stuck at this point)

    How do I move forward?
How do I install applications for a 4.0.(also is it possible to do this without upgrading or downgradin?)
My end result would be to play and rip games from/to harddrive(I have an external USB harddrive.I know that I will need to format it)

My main concern now is to move forward.

    Someone plz help!!

    Thanx

Your system menu version is fine, I have 4.0 as well, so you won't need to run the safe updater which requires the internet connection.

    Hi
    sorry for my ignorance.
My problem is I do not know wat i need to download exactly for my 4.0.
Also is there a specific order that i must load stuff.

Note My end result would be to play and rip games from/to harddrive

The only thing I have is HBC, can you tell me exactly whats needed to move on and if possible the order that I should do it

(nb i have read alot of the threads but i am still not to sure on what to do on my 4.0)

    Thanks

Just follow the 3.1-4.1 softmod guide, no need to install homebrew channel as you already have it. The update part is optional so you can skip it. If you want other things, you'll know when you are done.

    Thanks.

I downloaded the files needed through the link given in(new 3.1-4.1 softmod for any wii)
But before I start I would like to know if the files downloaded will still apply as the post (new 3.1-4.1 softmod for any wii) is old.(as it was posted on the 5/28/2009)

When i go in HBC my version shows 1.0.6 ios61 v19.26

My qustion is will the downloaded files still work on the above version and if not what should I do.

    Thanks again

It was also, "Last edited by Dogeggs; Today at 04:18 AM,"

Hi just to confirm I have already loaded the files on a new 2gig sd card.(those are the only files in there)

Must i replace the Private folder and boot.elf file with the original one I used to load HBC as I am not to sure whether this will cause a conflict.

I also read in one of the threads that my version(1.0.6 ios61 v19.26) will need preloader v3.0...is that correct?

Hi guys, this is an excellent forum and i have learnt a lot. I have downloaded and copied all required files to SD from the "New 3.1-4.1 softmod for any wii" guide and I'm ready to give it a go.

Can I just confirm whether or not I need an internet connection if I follow this guide. My wii is Japanese and 3.1 and I can't set up the wireless connection.

    Many thanks for help.
