yes some ppl have, but it is alot easier to just buy a second hand wii.

i dont think a modchip would fix that, maybe some new one that works with that chip but not sure. You would have to replace the whole board if u really wanted it. Best way is just to get a USB HDD and boot the games off there.

get start patcher on the wii, blocks not only disk updates but also online updates so you can leave wii connect24 on http://wiibrew.org/wiki/StartPatch

My finding is that the white Wiis that are sold as motion plus bundles (sports resort packs) are a much higher risk of being D3-2 than the ones without motion plus (regular sports pack).

All the limited black editions I saw by now were motion plus bundled...so seems all (or most) are D3-2.

    Hope that helps.

Hi again everyone! I went ahead and softmodded the new Wii and it went off without a hitch!

I am left with one concern: Online updates. MooCowGal recommended StartPatch, but on the wiibrew site it says that sometimes Preboot and StartPatch don't get along very well. So, my question is this: Are there any hacks for preboot that will stop online updates, or do I need to install StartPatch along-side preboot and if that's the case how to go about it safely? Thank you all so much! ^_^
