    NAND Backups

I have previously SoftModded my own Wii and I did NOT make a NAND backup.

Since then, I have completed Messies guide upto the Optional Bits, and installed USB Loader GX as a channel and the Shop Mod.

Can I still make a NAND backup since everything is running right or not?

You can but won't be able to recover a Wii with bootmii/IOS using a NAND backup unless Team Twizzers find a work around (unlikely)

Or you could try not listening.

    You can...
Just run bootmii from Homebrew Channel and do the backup if you want.

    Maybe I wasn't specific enough.

I don't want to do a NAND backup just for shits & giggles. I want a NAND backup that will allow me to restore my Wii if I was to ever brick it.

So, since you said I couldn't restore my Wii with a NAND backup in its present state, I would like to know if I could undo all the Hacks that have been installed and Virginise my Wii, then start again with Messies guide and get a NAND backup of my Wii that would allow me to recover it in the future.

Or is it too little too late and I must wait for Team Twizzers to find the unlikely workaround??

I have bootmi as an ios and have used it to restore system menu 4.0 when i experimented with going to 4.1 in the past. I make a nand backup anytime i am going to do something I am uncertain the outcome will be.

I have never bricked but if i did, this nand backup would be one of my only options after trying everything else. It is just the way it is, except it for what it is, asking about it isn't gonna change it.

Be careful of what you are doing and when vulnerable to updates, if you ever need the nand backup, there is still a 50/50 chance it will help and that is better than nothing.

If you have Bootmii as an IOS, then you can still do a backup, but its usefulness is limited.

You may be able to run it if you brick (you need a way to get to hbc to start bootmii first), but restoring a NAND backup from Bootmii IOS is not something that is either 100% guaranteed or recommended.

Un-modding and then re-modding your wii will not help you.

Seeing as the Wii is Black then the chance of having a vunerable boot1 to actually install bootmii/boot2 is negligible.

As stated in the posts above Bootmii/IOS is not a safe way to recover any Wii using a NAND backup and besides by the time you get to the point that it would be the last option you just wouldn't be able to launch it anyway.

So as said before. You can make a backup just by launching bootmii from HBC and choosing the relevant option but the usefullness of that backup will be approaching zero anyway.
