    Nand Backup

I have a Nand backup from when my Wii was totally standard (its soft modded now with HBC).

If I was to restore my Nand with BootMii and then uninstall BootMii would that make my Wii standard again so I could use online Nintendo Updates etc?

    Thanks

Yes, it is analogous to system restore in windows, everything is restored prior to you softmodding, although goinf online to do Nintendo updates would be madness as the only thing you will get is 4.2 and no Homebrew channel.
    Homebrew Channel 1.0.6 | Internet Channel | Sys Menu 4.1e | NeoGamma R8 b15 | Preloader .30 r3 | cIOS38 r14 | Wad Manager 1.5 | cIOSCORP 3.5 | DVDX v2 | Mplayer CE | WiiGator GC Backup Launcher Ver 2.0 | Wii64 Nintendo 64 Emulator | Homebrew Browser V 0.3.6 | IOSCheck V 0.3.6

If there is nothing wrong with your Wii then you don't need to restore your NAND backup. Thats for when things go westward.

You can remove the Hacks from your Wii and make it into a Virgin again if you wish, then you can use N's online updates etc.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Sorry I should have specificed in my original post my Wii is one of the later ones already on 4.2 so just a general question in case I need to revert back to standard in the future.

I was told that guide to revirginise your Wii wouldnt work for 4.2 Wii's is that incorrect?

Unsure to be honest. I have a 4.2 and was unable to install Bootmii as boot2 so do not have a NAND backup personally.

Although I wouldn't be interested in updating the firmware from 4.2 unless it was a massive security fix or every game needed it to be honest.

You can downgrade from 4.2 but it is risky and you could brick.

It's not worth the risk or the hassle to be honest. You can get the wii to do everything that you want it to do with 4.2, and adding the Shop Mod to stop the updates seals it in. Priiloader gives it brickblock and then it's pretty much done.
