    Soft modding?

    Hi all

I have my daughters wii here they had for xmas 4.2e (updated by mistake!).

Now we have the homebrew channel working and some nice home brew apps
    thanks guys!
We are looking at all the tutorials for softmods and we see a lot of posts
about bricked wii's, how likley is it that if we try these that we will brick our wii? and if we do brick it will we be able to recover it?

    Thanks

Did you install bootmii or preloader?
You probably wont get any problems with apps, most bricks are caused with messing about with WAD files. Get hold of hombrew browser (google it) let it update. It like wii's own app browser with lots of cool stuff that download straight to sd card through the wii.

Here is link for homebrew browser: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_apps/Homebrew_Browser

    Your Answer is No...

Bootmii and or Preloader/priiloader will save you "if" you get a brick, you need to follow this guide to play backup's on your Wii...as your already updated to 4.2

    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html

I found out that "some" new wii's bought this year Do Not Allow back-ups to be played through a disc loader,as of some "new" chip Nintendo created to try and stop this.Someone correct me if I'm wrong here please.

Only way to find out is to open up the Wii or to try and play the disc you have burned(@the slowest speed you can) if they don't play.. I have read you can get around this but must use a USB HD to play back-up's.

    I hope this helps...

Check the Bricked Issues section for some great guides by Mauifrog about Bricks and how they happen and what can be done to prevent them.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
