    Block wii update at router

    Hi,

I want to prevent my wii from accidentally updating over the internet and I want to leave it connected to the internet for games like mario cart.

Does anyone know the servers which nintendo use for updates so I can block them at my router?

You cant block updates at the router. If you could though, it would probably block all internet access to the wii. If you install preloader, you can set it up to block all disc updates. Also depending on what firmware you are using, you can also set preloader up to disable system updates as well.
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

If the updates are done over the internet they can be blocked.
If the servers for updates are different from the online gaming servers then traffic can be seperated and then updates can be blocked.
If updates use different ports to online gaming then this can be blocked as well.
If anyone knows this info it would be useful.

Whats the difference between system and disc updates?
I would love to install preloader but I have korean wii using 4.1u menus set to PAL - does this complicate using preloader or will preloader install be standard?
