Use the hackmii installer to install DVDx and then you will need MPlayer CE either 0.75 or later to play your movies. Your DVDs can be burned as you would normally to make backups of your movie DVDs. They are less sensitive to the burner software, speed, etc than the Wii games.

I know it's possible to play your DVD movies on your Wii, but it will put wear and tear on your drive/lens, may I suggest a cheap DVD player for discs, Wii=$199, DVD player=$20. I play movies on my Wii, but I play them from a USB thumb drive, Mplayer CE plays just about any format you can think of, I've played XVID, DivX, Mp4, AVI, and even PSP(Mp4) format right from the thumb drive. I haven't found a format that it will not play, although there is probably some unsupported formats.

Make sure you get that IOS202 installed, look at Wiibrew if you didn't get it with the Mplayer CE download.
