    4.2 brick??

    Hey guys,

I have a semi hacked wii, and in order to buy songs for Beatles RockBand I must update .
I have preloader .29 installed, and I'd be happy to get rid of it.
I used Truchra Bug Restorer on a 4.1 Wii.
Will the 4.2 update just kill and delete these, or will it cause problems?

It could brick your wii, but it would have nothing to do with your softmods. There is a chance of brick from 4.2 update for all wii's regardless. If you do update you'll have to softmod again.

I would imagine there is a work around. I have not played the game, so I don't understand the process, but if you use the shop channel, you don't need to update the wii for that. Just update the channel and the required ios file. This is described the guide, have a look at the two linked below.

Also I would imagine that those songs are available elsewhere.

I do not care if I lose all of my homebrew. And I already have followed a different softmod guide. Can I just reformat my Wii? And why is there "a chance of brick from 4.2 update for all wii's regardless"?

re-formatting your Wii isn't advised and is only alast option.

If you search you'd find the answer to your question in no time.

I've been searching Google, and looking around wiihacks for about 2 hours now.

Whenever I try to search in wiihacks it always says "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms"

    How is re-formatting dangerous?

hi beateboy not being funny but I also haven't been here long (see my post count) if I pass comment its because I've read loads on here and pass on what I have remembered (which with a shit memory like mine isn't much lo)

I nearly formatted mine once but was told it was a last option! Do a little hunting in 4.2 topics and if you're intent on upgrading I'd look through the guides to see what you can pick up.

I don't do downloading via wii or via any channels (haven't got a clue) but I don't see why you need 4.2 but as I said I don't know.

My advice would be to do some hunting through previous posts.

    Sorry couldn't be more help.

1 out of 1000 wii's will brick updating to 4.2, regardless of softmods or not.
