USB HDD Fat Partition not mounting

    4.2u
    My Passport Essential 500gb
    400gb WBFS/100gb Fat32 Partitions

    Everything is working great except:

WiiFlow,USB Loader GX, MplayerCE and other apps that are supposed to use the USB HDD do not see it. I would love to put some media on the HDD to view in Mplayer. It would be nice to have Wiiflow save box covers etc to the HDD. With a 2gb limit on an SD card, I don't have much room anymore. I would like to free up the SD for DLC content in guitar games and more apps.

The partitions are both active, the WBFS is primary. I followed Messie's guide and I have hermes 222/223 installed.

Speaking of the SD card, will the wii have any problems with a 4gb sd(non hc) card? Are there any other solutions for larger sd storage?

    Thanks

Hi - I've posted a couple of these today but...
    1. 2 partitions 1st must be unformatted on PC but made active. Then format with WBFS
    2. The second partition is the one to store videos etc. I formatted mine to NTFS. Not sure whether it is FAT or FAT32 that works but NTFS is fine. I can store a video and retrive and play with Mplayer CE

My 2nd partition is NTFS, not FAT, so excuse my error. Vista will only let me go 32gb on a FAT partition. I'm gonna try reformatting my hdd with a 32gb Fat32 and the remainder WBFS and see if that works. I wonder why some people get NTFS to work and others don't. None of my apps recognize the NTFS.

So homebrew needs FAT32? I primarily want movies and media on the 2nd partition, but as stated it would be nice to run homebrew and store usb loader art also. I just wish I could go over 32gb.

I am not sure that you have the right solution. NTFS should work with no problem, I use Mplayer on an NTFS partition, run from within Homebrew. Are you sure it is formatted and active etc. ?
I can't see how going for FAT32 would make a difference unless there is something else not set up correctly. My drive is 500GB with approximately 50% wbfs and 50% NTFS (maybe 30/70).
Thinking about it, you must have the NTFS correct otherwise you wouldn;t be able to put a file there. I have .avi working fine. Presumably, what you are saying is that you cannot 'see' the NTFS partition, in which case maybe something in the MPLAYER/HB setup is wrong? I can;t help much here as all I did was follow the softmod for 4.2 to the letter and it worked fine.

Agarcia, I am beginning to wonder if the compatibility od drives is really an issue. There seem to be many people having problems and maybe they just put it down to an incompatible drive when it is actually something else?
Maybe I am lucky, I had two spare USB drives, one a Seagate 500GB freeagent, and another a vanilla SATA enclosure with a drive that I put in (can't remember) and they work fine.

Possibly, I think most problems are from skipping steps or missing something. I am a complete noob at this stuff and I have had no issues. lol, I even by accident followed the 4.2 guide when I have a 4.1 system! I think sometimes the best way to solve an issue is just start over.
