    System Menu 4.0e...Please help

    Hi guys,

I'm totally newbie on this, so I'm sorry if I'm asking something stupid . I've unsuccessfully searched in the forum for anyone with this problem and with the same version of System Menu that I have.

I bought a Wii with System Menu 4.0e and I've tried to hack it by installing bannerbomb. I successfully installed Homebrew Channel and it also says that I successfully installed DVDx. However, I tried to read some DVDs (using MPlayer) and it just freeze . Reading a movie from a SD Card works fine, but from a DVD not. Is this a problem of DVDx?

I've tried with Memorex -R/+R (with Divx movies) and a "real" DVD movie (bought in a store) and nothing .

    Anyone please can help me?

    Thanks in advance

PS: I didn't install bootmii, because I've read somewhere that bootmii it's not required to this. Is this right?

Its useful to install bootmi so you can restore to a working system.

Myplayer lets you you play avi files from your vHDD

DVDx lets you play retail DVD's.

Thanks for your fast reply WiiJohn

So, what do I need to do in order to play a retail DVD? Just insert it and play? Or do I need to choose any option?

    Thanks

    No, bootmii is totally separate.
Bootmii does not support wiimotes, use poweron and reset to navigate, some Wii's require a GC controller.

    Hi again guys,

Well, I've just arrived home and I'm trying to find out a solution to my problem with dvdx. By googling I found this video:

Basically, is a guy that plays a Jurassic Park dvd using his Wii and MPlayer...So, I'm a little confused now. WiiJohn said:

DVDx lets you play retail DVD's.

However, the guy in the video is using MPlayer to play the movie... Anyone can give me a little help and explain me how is this possible? Is this an older version of Mplayer or something like that?

Any help will be really appreciated!

    Thanks

I know, you are probably thinking: "this guy is an idiot", lol...and probably you're right, sorry

Well, I've installed the MPlayer CE 0.75 (excellent interface!) and I'm able to play movies from my SD Card (the only thing that I couldn't change was the subtitles size...they were to small), but my problem persists: when I try to play a movie from a DVD nothing happens. With the previous MPlayer version, everything just freeze. Now, I'm able to continue using MPlayer without restart my Wii.

Please note: I've installed both dvdx and Mplayer CE 0.75. Do you think that this could be a problem with dvdx installation? I've installed it using bannerbomb and I got a "Success" message.

    Thanks in advance
