Loaders wont find WD passport 320gb

So, finally got all my things to softmod my wii. 4.1E, followed the guide start to finish, not a single error, everything worked fine.

Then it came time to get my brand new Western Digital 'My Passport Essential' 320gb external drive ready to go, because from everything i read, this drive is supposed to be one of the best, compatibility-wise.

So i follow the guide for creating mutliple partitions on the HDD, all works fine, two partitions, one being WBFS which is primary and active(~250gb), the other being fat32(~50gb).

Then comes time to plug the drive into the wii and load it up in USBloaderGX. And no cigar...just comes up with the countdown for me to plug my slow usb device in and eventually the wii resets - this is running it through both a forwarder, channel, or HBC this happens.

So i think ok...smart thing to do would be to try other loaders, Neogamma - counts down in attempts to find it, eventually resets. Wiiflow - through a forwarder the loading screen comes up then the wii resets, through both options in HBC(222 or 249) it sits on a screen waiting for me to plug the HDD in.

I have tried the hdd with all of these option in both ports several times, tried re-installing the 249 rev14 several times, same with 222, no dice.

I can't figure out where this is going wrong, seeings i'm following the guides to the dot, and using a very 'compatible' HDD.

Any help? =/ and sorry for wall of text.

It certainly sounds like you've not properly installed cIOS249 or it's plugged into the wrong USB port.

Detection of USB Devices is normally instantaneuos, I've never seen a slow USB message with my 320GB WD device.

The cios38_rev14 install is coming up as successful with 0 errors, so if it was something like a dodgey sd or bad dol or anything, something should should go wrong in the install, right?

Just seems wierd doing this, everything says its going a-ok, yet the end result just isn't coming out right, is there any way i can test the cios other than with usb loaders to see if it causes problems somewhere else?

Run signcheck and post the resultant signcheck.csv that it creates on your SD card.

    No it looks good.

Have you got another USB device? A flash drive or something? Just thinking that it'd be worth proving your setup before looking too much into the drive being an issue.

Best i have available is a fairly generic 'rundisk' 1gb flash drive, just formatted to WBFS on the comp, put a game on and the results were:

    USBloaderGX - resets the wii
    wiiflow - resets the wii
    neogamma - mount attempt countdown
