    how safe is homebre channel

got wii4.0e and next thing to do is install homebrew channel

all i want to do now is testuse mplayer and snes+nintendo64 emulators.
if for example some wii game wants to make some sort of update to my system, how does that affect wii when hbc installed? do i get a nice white brick or does the hbc only get messed up or what?
what about other updates, do they affect to wii when hbc installed?
my wii is not connected to net so other updates will be very rare...

    thank you

well, in order for your emulators to work you are goiing to need more than just hbc. you will need to install a few ios's. they are required as they are what the games run on. and as long as you use preloader or equivelant, then you should have no worry of a brick.
