    Ca Updating to 4.1 Question

I just purchased a 3.4U Wii, followed the steps of Dogeggs tutorial for "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod". I didn't pick up the network adapter and am unable to do step 4. UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM MENU VERSION because it looks for a network connection.

I searched forum but am not able to find anything that can help me out without a network connection. Should I just go buy a network adapter tomorrow or is there away around this?

    Thanks for the help!

You can update the system menu offline. I believe I saw those files' link in the guide thread.

it would not hurt to get a network adapter its not like its used for 1 thing. U can play online games and other stuff.

I think its possible to update the menu with WAD but dono for sure and if its safe or not.
I reccomend u just get an adapter

When I try and do the Firmware Updater v4.1 from the Homebrew menu, I get a Initializing network, please wait.. and it just hangs there.

    Any ideas?

No sorry. Your right, I don't have an adapter yet.

You mentioned that the updater will probably not recognize this adapter. I didn't realize there is a LAN adapter, should I get this instead?

the updater probably wont be able to use the lan adapter. do you have a wireless router, or can you get the wii close enough to a window to pick up on a neighbors?

Okay, just to take a couple of steps back:

LAN adapter: Probably will not work with Updater.
Wifi Adapter: Will work with the Updater.

Do I have this correct? Because I do have a wireless router in my house. I only got the Wii for Christmas that's it, I don't have either of these adapters, yet.

    Thanks.
