    I believe the error is 1053 and yeah, I get the same thing. I have a LU72 Wii and can not get my backup disks to load either. I have an external HDD that is not being recognised. I've checked the list too and its not on the list. The HDD enclosure is an Eagle Consus "N" series, the drive inside is a Maxtor 250Gb IDE. I successfully got Mario Kart Wii to play from a Lexar 4Gb flash drive though.

    Yeah 1053 error message when I try to load ROMs. And just to add more to my issues, I'm using a Maxtor drive as well. figures I left my 8gb jump drive at work too. really curious about the 236 error when I run usbloader....

    Alright got it running sound as a pound now, Thanks all for your help. I do have a couple more questions, I am currently running fw 4.1U should I update it or is 4.1 fine & my other question, I didnt install the preloader, should I?

    Stay at 4.1. 4.2 was designed to disrupt homebrew by installing stubs in place of the cIOS slots and will kill your softmod. Preloader is advised to make sure you never accidentally take a disc update and also contains other useful hacks. And in case you ever do semi-brick it is crucial in getting your system up and running again. Short answer - Yep.
