    Us Interesting....

I have a new Wii system 4.2U and I used the guide and everything is working. I went to install priiloader and that worked but the system menu appears to be 4.0U now, and not 4.2. Any ideas what happened? I tried to use the hacks.ini for the 4.2 and it kept complaining, so I checked the settings menu and it's now 4.0U. Should I worry about this since everything seems to be working?

I wouldn't worry... But if anything does happen, come here for advice : ) Just make sure that Priiloader boots through to the Homebrew Channel and you're set : )

Priiloader will boot to the system menu, or Homebrew, but not bootmii.

That would be because you never installed Bootmii as an IOS. Using the Homebrew Channel you just need to use the Hackmii installer to install Bootmii (either as boot2 for older "luckier" Wii's or IOS for the newer, say 2yrs old, Wii's) Even if Bootmii doesn't work, as long as the HBC does, then you're fine.

Well actually bootmii is installed, as an IOS because that is the first step of softmodding.

I'm just wonderning if I'm ACTUALLY at 4.0U now, or am I at 4.2U with a 4.0U Menu. If I'm actually at 4.0U then I don't know how that happened.

Okies, well I never followed Dogeggs' guide to hack my Wii and there are a lot of people who disregard bootmii : ) So no harm in checking. Have you ran it through the Homebrew Channel? Press Home then click on "Bootmii" something or other : ) Lol Sorry, tired XD

I uninstalled bootmii and reinstalled it, that took care of the problem! Thanks!

I would still like to know HOW my system went from 4.2 to 4.0, that is stumping me. I wonder if I should attempt to upgrade to 4.1 via the safe method.

When you boot the Wii into Priiloader, what does it say your Systemmenu is? Just out of curiosity.

Systemmenu 417 is System Menu 4.0U, so then you would definitely be on 4.0U as far as I can understand. I wouldn't attempt to up nor downgrade. 4.0 is identical to 4.1 in terms of hacking, so I'd just stay with it. : )
