    Is my problem definitely media?

Ive been doing some reading and the 324 error I get in Gamma loader is apparantly either bad media OR CIOS related. Id like to try and narrow this down to 1 problem. I do have 249 installed and I can play games thru usb loader with no problems at all. Does this mean its definitely media or is the fact I can play games through usb loader meaningless when it comes to playing backups? I have only tried 2 diff kinds of +R and I know that -R is the media of choice, but its all I have and want to be somewhat certain its a media problem before I purchase -R's. Its hard to buy more dvds when I have 250 +R's sitting here lol. Thanks for any replies.

Try using cIOS38-rev14 with Neogamma R7. Gamma is outdated and you probably have an outdated cIOS too. If cIOS38-rev14 does not work, its probably media related. For best results use high quality DVD-R (not +R) and burn at low speeds. Verbatim DVD-R at 4x is best.

well it doesnt hurt to try Neogamma, u can hav 2 loaders. Im using neogamma R8 b7 and got no problems at all except for Mortal Mombat Armgdn but i read it has problems and can be ran only from usb so its not neogammas fault.

It is outdated, Neogamma is more updated. Most loaders usually tell you which revision of cIOS249 you have installed. I recommend installing Neogamma, it should tell you which revision you have, you probably don't have rev14, i suggest you install it.

Neogamma shows up fine in HBC but then when I click it all I get is blackscreen. I also have softchip installed and it says IOS 249 Rev 15 loaded so i guess thats what I have. Is that better or worse than r14?

Im getting DVD Read Error 1101 with Neogamma R7. I read here that error 1101: DVD Read Error Bad burn/media or incorrect cios/neogamma version. This error will persist on newer wiis, meaning that they have the new D2-3 chip which cannot read backups at all. Only option for them is USB loading. My wii is brand new. How can I tell if it has that new chip?

my mortal kombat works fine from backup disk, even before i updated my cios to rev14 or added additional ios files. not sure if i had to patch the game or not as it has been a while since i got it.
