Afraid to ask the question but here it goes...

Hello everyone and thanks for letting me be part of the community.

I'm new to the Wii scene (just got myself one for Xmas) and after days of researching different mod sites, Tube vids, forums and even paying for a membership to (suposedly) the best wii download site and finding out everything they gave me I could get for free (don't worry, I got a refund), I decided to softmod my Wii with all the tools on this site Wiikend hacks, which i must say was pretty helpful. I'm posting this hoping someone out there has an (any) answer:

I've got a 4.1E, non LU64, wireless networked Wii. I got to install the HBC and everything went sweet. When I tried to install the WAD Manager, I got the -2011 Error. I went ahead and (terrified) installed the Trucha thing. It seemed to work fine. Then I installed the Wad Manager and I could gather that it installed OK. Here comes the clincher, when trying to install the backup launcher, my Wii froze up on the Wad manager page. The only thing I could do was to unplug it. I kept trying and it kept doing the same. One thing I noticed was that. initially, when I started the whole process, my Wii didn't have the IOS249 as an option (only the IOS257 which I think is the right one for 4.1). After the trucha load, the IOS249 would appear and whenever I hit it by scrolling or going to it that's when the freeze-up would happen. Scared to have bricked my new Wii, I went ahead and deleted the HBC. Apparently, my Wii is not bricked because the menu comes up and I can still play the few original games I have. However, if I try the whole process again, when I go to DATA MGNT > Wii CHANNELS > DS CARD, the screen goes black and nothing happens. I've tried it with my SD card loaded with different HBC packages and it's always the same. Is this a lost cause? Have I done something that has no fix? Would allowing the 4.2 update fix this even if this means no HBC anymore? I'm just not part of the lucky group that can brick a Wii and go running to Wallmart to buy another, so I treasure this one. Thanks for your help and I apologize for this long post. Have a great Xmas and thanks again for anything you might throw my way.

What happens when you extract this to your sd-card and click on the sd icon in the channel menu.
    CB2_BB_SignCheck.zip
If signcheck loads, push reset many many many times, then post the cvs file from your sd-card here.

Guys, thanks for your quick responses. Here is my update:

Mauifrog: I'm beggining to panic as my wii freezes up once I hit the SD card button on the Wii channels menu. So, no luck there.

Richarsito: Your answer conforts me a little but I need further guidance. Remember that I erased the HBC, so right now I have a "just-like-new" Wii menu with the execption that I cannot access the SD card menu (still, I checked once again and I can play SP Kart, Wii Sports and Mario Galaxy which I own the originals). SO, given these, can I still download the NUS donloader and if so, how do I get the WAD manager. Remember that you're dealing with a guy that has about 72 hours worth of knowlwdge on the subject.

    Thanks again

On the card I linked to you there is a bannerbomb folder with v1 and v2 inside. Copy the private folder inside v1 to the root of your sd-card. The goto setting- data management- channels- sdcard

If it still feezes, try to remove the card, goto setting- data management- channels- sdcard, then insert the card.

I'm running into <edit>a similar</edit> problem on an LU51. Installed Homebrew, updATED FROM 3.1 TO 4.0 THEN TO 4.1. Wii freezes when I click on the SD icon on the menu, or when i click on SD Card under Channels in data management.

I extracted the above to my root, and when I click on SD it asks me to load boot.dol. I do this, and SignCheck loads. When you say to press reset many many times, do you mean until the Wii actually resets? I assume so...here is my csv

    MY CSV

If i click no to boot.dol, the games on the SD card play fine. However, I'm doing this for someone not versed in hacking, so I don't want to have to walk him through all that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm posting this at 5pm EST, and will probably not be available again till about 8 or 9 EST, so I won't be ignoring your help. Thanks and Merry Christmas

First, it looks like bannerbomb v2 is working for you. Second it looks like you have an older version of cIOSCORP- is this something you want? cIOSCORP is at 3.6 now. You have current cios and should be able to install wads and play backups. What exactly are you trying to do?

Does bannerbomb v1 not work? Do you care? You can test it by copying sd:\bannerbomb\v1\private to sd:\, just replace the private folder. Then bannerbomb from datamanagment.

Let me know what your trying to do, and what the results have been and we will sort it.

Ok, before I downlaoded the CB2_BB_SignCheck.zip that you posted, I had just run the softmod from Dogeggs Tutorial. I don't even know what cIOSCORP i have with that. don't think i ever had bannerbomb till i extracted your thing. I deleted all the ios.wads and apps like the firmware updaters and stuff. i had no problem installing wads and moving the channels to the sd, but when i tried to click on SD either form data management or the main menu, it would freeze.

thats when i came on here and extracted your thing. after i ran signcheck, i restarted the wii, clicked the SD icon. When it asked me if I wanted to run boot.dol, i clicked no and was able to load one of the VC games that I ahd installed. I guess at this point, my only question is:

If I delete the SignCheck folder, will that stop the wii from asking about the boot.dol when I click on the SD Icon?

I'm not worried about updating the cIOSCORP or anything, because I'm doing this for someone who isn't going to be doing anything further with it. If he wants new VC or Wii Ware, I'm sure he'll be calling me about it.

I haven't had this problem with my Wii, or the one other one I modded before this one.

    Thanks again for your time.

I have no idea what I did, but it works now. Thank you for your posts, because if I hadn't messed around with your zip file there, i wouldn't have fixed it by mistake. Merry Christmas.
