Arrow Need Advice on my Current Purchase

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
    Does this setup work?
    About to Purchase:

older Wii >>> To avoid G3-2 Chipset
LG-8163b Drive so I can make backups to ISO
    DriveKey for the hardmod.

I just wanted to make sure that backing up games will still work because of all the research I currently did was currently out of date.

I apologize if this in the wrong section.

    THANKS AGAIN!!!

Don't mess with the dvd drive. You can back up and rip to usb. If you post in the introductions section of the forum s0ur or wiijohn will be along soon to offically great you and give you the only links you'll ever need. Welcome.

no you just need a usb hdd, i am using a 3.5" pc hdd in a ebay hdd enclosure with built in usb conversion. Preferably you want a hdd off of the approved list but at lot of others work. And i use wiiflow, alot of people use usb loader gx also. Both of those will rip a game straight to hdd through the wii

I have a SeaGate 250GB Hardrive, I can't use the Wi-Fi method, My dads a Security Admin doesnt want the flow of that on the network,

Can anyone post a link I found one but I don't think it's relative to what you guys are describing,

also, for the hard drive does it have to be a soft mod or can it be a hard mod?

    Thanks,Thanks,Thanks.

So basically, I can use the Wii's harddrive to backup instead of buying my own?

If you read that thread you would see it tells you to softmod your wii.

You will need to do that if you want to use a HDD on your wii.
