    cIOS help?

Hi, this is my first post on a forum ever so if I screw it up I am sorry!

All I am trying to do is make back-ups of my discs because I am very particular about my games and I have three little ones at home. With that said, I have a 3.4u system and installed the hombrew channel for systems 3.1 to 4.0. I can back up the discs fine I think, however the back up launcher will not read them. It says "read err (###) no cIOS." On the bottom of the screen it says " back up launcher 0.3 gamma, IOS36. Somewhere I read that I need to update to a IOS249?

Is that what I need to do? and How?

    Thank you
