it sounds like 4.2 is alot beatter un less u want to in order
Anything with a higher number is automatically win!

Sadly not the case with Wii.

4.2 is 4.1 with hombrew/hardmod countermeasures that bricks some Wiis, especially Korean ones.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! Are there any benefits with softmodding it to 4.2 over 4.1?

No. 4.2 was designed to kill homebrew and updating to it now will offer you nothing but headaches.

Thought Tealc answered that clearly and concisely.

You're right, yes he did. Apparently this is what happens when I respond too fast to emails from this site when I'm in the middle of another post. Break time!

Sandisk 2GB Standard SD, not SDHC. Non-nintendo branded to save you cash. They do one for mobile phones that comes with an adapter that works 100% too.

ok thanks, also I have a mini SD adapter with a 1gb mini I can put in it. Will that work?

Also my disc drive reads the disc and knows a game is in but then I get a read error when I try to load it. So once I softmod it, can I backup my games to a usb HD and play them off of it?

Thank you so much for your help!

I have BootMii installed and have a backup of my NAND. Am I wrong in thinking I can use BootMii to restore my nand?

I thought that was the whole idea of the backing up of the NAND in the first place.
Liked my help? - Your thanks is appreciated.

Great thread, this was my question too, so not thread hijacking, just an alternative take on the same question

    I have PAL 3.4e with wiikey2 1.3 fw & homebrew channel.

All I want to do is run a usb loader to run games off a USB hard disk (which I will get next week) & run VC & wiiware games (would love to do that from the external HD too but I think it is SD card only?)

So rather than asking if I should upgrade too, am I losing anything by not upgrading yet? If it ain't broke don't fix it was what I was told

Tx. Great board this - 100s of threads every day, I wish I had more time to read them all!
