setting up USB loader on an already modded wii

    Hi

My wii already has a mod chip installed, HBC installed (1.0.6 IOS36 v4.18), the Wii OS is version 3.2E.

So I want to be able to use a USB hard drive but I am unsure which tutorial to follow. Do I need to follow "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" if I already have a hardware mod? or do I just need to follow the tutorial for setting up a USB loader (i.e. "Loading and Playing Wii Backup Games from USB HDD")? And if so, do I need to upgrade to v4.2E?

Also, can I use a HDD that is partitioned partly for a PC (NTFS) and partly for wii (WBFS)? So I can change between Wii and PC, or will this not work?

Appreciate any answers that will point me in the right direction.

    Cheers All

You need to follow the softmod guide first. Even though you have a modchip, this only helps dvd playback not usb. You need a cios to do this, your system menu version is fine, DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.2.

You will have to follow the New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii Tutorial before using a USB Loader.

As for partitioning it so you can have a NTFS and WBFS Partition, look here:

As for installing wii isos and playing them through usb loader, look here:

    Thanks for the quick reply.
So I will follow New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii Tutorial and according to step 4 I should update to firmware 4.1. The pack comes with 4.1 developed by Waninkoko; Will this be the "E" version for PAL wii or doesn't it matter?

The updater detects your region and installs the region's 4.1 system files.
