Updating 3.4u to 4.1u with downloaded WAD

    Hey,

I've been really trying to delay updating from 3.4u to 4.X for as long as possible but the new 32gb storage and running channels from the SD are now making me want to update.

I don't have my Wii online so I can use the waniko's 4.0 update but I have been able to use the NDU downloader that lets you download IOS and system files into WAD format.

I own a wii with D2B chipset that is hardmoded with wiikey 1.9 and softmoded with HBC & bootmii as boot2. Currently I've got IOS's 15,36,37,38 up to date (I think) and re-patched with Trucha bug. I downloaded system menu 4.0 in wad format and system menu 4.1 in wad format but when I install the wad for 4.1 anytime I go to the SD card icon on the Wii system menu it tries to read the SD then crashes even with a blank SD card. Alas because of this I had to do a RestorMii to take my Wii back to 3.4u from my NAND backup I made before trying to go up to 4.1u.

I was wondering could someone please let me know the best way to update from 3.4u to 4.1u for someone that doesn't have their Wii on the internet please? If you need any other info about my setup to help me with this update please let me know.

    Thanks In Advance,

    N2600

In my opinion, I don't use offline updates...
I bricked my Wii, and I don't plan on bricking other Wii consoles either.

The best way is to install IOS60patched IOS60patched.rar then System Menu 4.1U 4.1U-RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v449.wad - 4.1, USA

This is basically what the firmware updater does anyway, it just has a check for IOS60 inbuilt to protect noobs.

As you have boot2 protection you can do stuff like this will safety.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

I'm up to 4.1 fully working now. Seems I had it done before also but I thought the SD menu was wonky when it really wasn't. I had a SD card with bannerbomb on it and if you have BB on your SD when you load the SD menu your wii will crash.

So note to noobs, SD Menu & BannerBomb don't mix, use a different SD card.
