I can't play burned games on my softmodded wii, is it because of the drive chipset?

When I try to play a disc using Neogamma r8 beta 7 I get error 1053, and when I try usign neogamma r8 beta 1 I get error 1020. I checked the serial number on the Wii drive chip data base and this is what I got.

Your drive most likely has the following chipset:

•There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
    •And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

So this means I can onle play games from a USB or an SD card right? Your help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

BTW, my wii is a LU72 and it has 4.1 firmware. The games I have tried playing work on my friend's softmodded wii. He has a LU65 with 3.4 firmware. Is the drive chipset the issue. I do not have a USB or SD card bigger than 4gb so I can't really figure out if that's the problem.

You already answered your own question. USB/SD is the way to go.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Thanks man, I appreciate your help. It's just that the name of the drive chipsets gave me a head ache, they all look the same to me (just kidding). But seriously, I had probles figuring that out, because I read that the chipset that does not read them is the D3-2 chipset, and then I got this :

•There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
    •And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

And it confused me a little bit. Thanks for your help, as you can see I did hit the thanks button.

Thanks a lot Tealc !!! I will definately think about donating when my next check comes. I was able to load Loader GX into my 2gb SD and I also loaded a game into my 4gb USB. I thought I needed a USB bigger than 4gb, but I was able to load a game using WFSB and it only required 2.42gb. Anyway, thanks a lot !!!
