"waiting for your slow usb device"

Once in a while (usually after the unit has been off for a while then turned back on) i get that error then have to unplug the HDD then plug it back in to work.

IS there any way around this? Someone told me Priiloader fixes this problem? If so, how do i install it?

    Im running 4.2U

i don't know how preloader fixes something like that, but it does alot of cool stuff. sounds like your hardware just doesn't work well when it's cold.

Western Digital is a great HDD. But you could look at the Compatibility list of Hard Drive's that have been tested by people. They work well. Search up on Google USB loader GX and there are downloads of the recent ones. I think the most recent is Usb loader gx 898 or something. It was posted on this forum earlier and it works with the new super mario bros no patches needed. Use the search tool for information.

    Hope I helped. Good luck!

well i have the seagate 250gb freeagent Go. They said it works great if you install the sleep thingy. Well i did that and still no go.

Im pretty sure its the drive going to sleep or standby mode and thats why i have to unplug it/plug it back in each day.

Im gunna try the Western digital 320gig my passport essential portable and see how that one works.

Quit using USB Loader GX, that will take care of that problem. My Seagate gets that error everytime with USB Loader GX, so I use Configurable USB Loader. Also, turn off the spindown (sleep mode), that may also take care of your problem.

EDIT - I didn't notice you had a FreeAgent Go, it should work fine, my Seagate FreeAgent Desk doesn't work with USB Loader GX the way it works with other USB Loaders.

    Great to hear!!

I think I may know why your Seagate drive was not working all the time. It probably had a energy save mode and it shuts down after a certain period of time. But since you have a WD HD working now, no more problems. Have fun!

I have to plug/unplug my HDD about 15-20 times, trying both USB slots before USB loader GX picks it up.

I hate this new USB loader GX, before I used USB loader 1.5 and it finds and loads my HDD straight away.

Are there other USB loaders out for system menu 3.4e that are newb friendly to install?
