yes you should go through all the options as it will give you some recovery software and stuff if you do brick your wii the game updates will mess up your softmod even totally brick it if you softmod never do a game update always find the updates on the site here.

I have a quick question that relates. If you put a game disc in that is from another region or has an update will it automatically try to update or will it give you the choice to not update now? My Wii is softmodded using 3.1-4.1 softmod.

that is the reason for installing preloader or a simular app. to disable disk updates. you never want them to update the system unless you are modchipped only. and you must never let an out of region game update the system. instant brick.

mod chips cost money, and you have to physically open the wii and solder to install them. that didn't appeal to me. softmod will alow you to make changes to the system without updating.

I know not to use a out of region disc and not to upgrade, but will it automatically update if I put one in on load from USB or will it ask if I want to update?
