Whats the advantage of using a forwarder channel?

Hi all I've managed to install channels for

Neogammer and GX loader on my Wii front menu with no problems.

When I used wad manager to create my GX loader channel it had two choices.

I selected the forwarder one cause I've had that its good to use a forwarder channel.

What is the advantage of using a forwarder channel?

    Many thanks all

so that you use less space on your wii system and can still access it without loading HBC

The forwarder channel takes up less space on your wii, since all it does is point to the full program on your SD card.

It's also easier to manually update apps on your sd card, since you just take it to your PC and copy the newer version over. USB loader gx has native online update anyway so doesn't apply in that case.

So really its just like a short cut on a PC then to a program then?

Also it makes updating apps easier because.....

if was on the Wii itself would be harder to change were if use forwarder when you update sd it just points to sd and uses the newer version then?

I think I follow now lol

    You got it

For example, I use wiiflow as my main loader. Unfortunately it doesn't support auto-updating through the wii (yet). So I have to manually update the SD card when a new version is out. I use a forwarder channel on the Wii itself which never needs to be changed.

If you install wiiflow directly to the wii, everytime a new version is out, I have to copy to the SD card, then install using wad manager.

Excellent I following now very usefull too.

One last question you know when Gx loader updates should I select DOL update or ALL update?

Also do these updates get newer games to work if you get a black screen or are they for something else?

Many many thanks cant thank you enough and on my other post too!

I would just update all. It's only going to be the .dol most of the time anyway, but might as well hit all.
