Playing original saved games from the backup disc

I've searched, but I can't really find an answer, at least one I like.

I own an original Super Mario Galaxy and I burned a DVD-R backup. When I use the backup, I can't access my saved games.

What am I doing wrong?

The backup was a PAL .iso and I used RegionFrii to change it to NTSC-U (which is the same as my original game). I'm launching via NeoGamma r8 v7 and it works if I force 480i (otherwise it's black and white).

I looked in my Wii memory and there are now two SMG saves there, both with the same slogan (can't remember right now).

Any thoughts?

i would guess its because you changed the region on it....

even if you change the region, the code of the disk itself still contains characters in it's id that are region specific. that is the case with cheats and saves.

You mean with regionfrii? So I should get an .iso that was originally NTSC-U?

if your save game came from a disk that's ID was rble123 it will only work on a disk with that ID. from another region it might be rbla123 and therefore wont work. these are just examples not actual games lol

I also had that problem with The Conduit. At first I burned the game to disc and played it for a while, then I installed it to HDD with USB Loader CFG from the burned copy. Then when I played it from the HDD, I could not access the save game created from the burned copy. But I didn't change the region of the game.
