Why are there so many IOS's?

I am newbie like you never knewbie before.

What's with the IOS's? Why is there common one you shouldn't delete like IOS 60 and below, AND THE NEED FOR EXTRA ONES?

Yet there are custom ones like IOS 249 there don't affect the original WII setup when uninstalled, BUT ARE SOMEHOW NEEDED ANYWAY?

    And then there IOS 222, IOS 336, 338, 338 REV 14...etc.?

Then other People have yet still needs for IOS 355, 350, 353? WTF? Is this for newer games? Is that why some of my backups say 'Can't Read Disc, Check Your manua', maybe cause I don't have EVERY SINGLE IOS IN THE WORLD?

You disk errors are from bad burns, disks, iso's, or drives. There are many ios for the same reason windows has so many dll's. They are all different, and preform different functions for the wii.

Each IOS is different in its own way. Each IOS is made and used for a specific task. E.g, IOS61 is currently for the Shop Channel while other IOS are used to play games etc.

IOSs under 200 shouldn't be deleted because they are Official Nintendo IOS which usually perform important tasks such as running the system menu.

Just as original IOSs are used to run original games, e.g IOS36 runs SSBB while IOS53 runs New Super Mario Bros. Wii. IOS222, 223, 249 and 250 are used to run backups.

More newer ios are released by nintendo and older ones are stubbed to load more newer games and sometimes prevent piracy. More custom IOS are released as the older releases soon will not be able to support newer games. Disc cannot be read errors are usually caused by bad burns, bad isos and poor media, they are not really related to IOS.

No, You should NEVER DELETE ANY IOS UNDER 200. These are official IOS which perform important tasks, without them, your wii can brick and turn into a $200 Paper weight.

If you want to delete ios60, you need to use wadmanager and uninstall it, or just install the stub, if you like bricking your wii.

Those are not valid ios numbers. Perhaps you mean ios55, ios53, ios50. Sometimes new games need a newer version of an ios, and it needs to be installed to play that game.
