Need a push in the right direction..

    Hiya guys.

I find myself having a problem. I have a black Wii, with serial number LEF501. I followed a complete tutorial which was said to be working for the LEF501 series. However for me, it's not 100%.
When I put in a disc (burned on Philips DVD+R, at 4x speed or 2.4x speed) and go to Neogamma, I get an error.
Also when I connect my HD WD Mybook 500g, (made two partitions on it using Acronis Disc Director Suite, one is for my normal files and I turned the other (250gig) into WBFS and added a few games I copied of my originals using WBFS manager) neogamma just counts down and doesnt do anything, or when I change slot it just blinks when I press A.
Installing copies of "owned" .wad games via wad manager, works like a charm. It's the only thing working lawl.

So I'm a bit confused. My thoughts now are maybe I should install another CIOS? Or perhaps use cIOScorp v3.3.
What do you guys think I did wrong, or should do now?

    Thanks in advance.

To give you guys some intel on what my procedures exactly looked like, I placed it under this chunk of text.

here is what I did so far:

    1. Read tons of tutorials and forumposts to (for my feeling) lower the brick chance.

    2. Installed Bootmii v2 as an IOS.
    3. Installed the Homebrew channel.
    4. Put another map on the SD card and I started Bootmii from the HB channel... this opened up WAD manager 1.4.
    5. In WAd manager I selected IOS16.wad, uninstalled it and then "installed" it.
    6. Did the same with LU64.wad except for the fact I could not uninstall it, so I just installed it. (Guess I didnt have it to start with).
    7. Back to HBC and started up cIOS38_rev13b-Installer --> Selected IOS249 followed by "network installation".
    8. Cleaned the SD card and put Neogamma v6 on it.

    it was a dutch tut from Ombouwen Wii LEF121 & LEF200 FW 3.4, 4.0 & 4.1 Softmod | Electronica: Spellen en consoles

to start your wii is the newer black wii and has the new drive chip that blocks dvd-r loading.... and you also said that you used dvd+r (they dont work)... and i would not touch the CIOScorp.... if you are on 4.2 sys menu use the messies guide (link in my sig) or lower sys menu use DOGEGGS (link in my sig).... read first then mod, thats a best practice... and with the WBFS drive reformat it to FAT then use WBFS manager 3.0 and format it again to WBFS and try loading ISO again.....

    Firstly DVD-R not DVD+R.

Secondly you have a D3-2 board which doesn't play backups. Checking your serial LEF50 against Wii Drive Chip Database I get this:-

There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.

Do not install cIOSCORP as it will NOT help, it'll just mess things up more.

The tutorial you followed is out of date by the way.

Your HDD must be partitioned so that the WBFS volume is first, primary and marked active.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Wow I cant believe you guys gave me such a quick reaction. That's what I call service ..
    Thanks

I already had in mind that it might be because my wii chip doesnt support playing backups.

And I did read alot about people saying dvd-r work better, evendoh I always used to burn for my nephew on Dvd+r (he has a drivekey installed, maybe thats why) and never got a fail.

I have the 4.1E version on my Wii so I guess it would be safe for me to folllow the link in your signature, (Dogegg tutorial for up to 4.1)? I'm just so scared to brick my Wii because its one of the newer versions.

After I'm back from dinner, I will reformat the WBFS partition and mark it first and "active", since i think I did not do that earlier. If that doesnt work, I'll follow the tutorial in your sig.

Thanks alot. I will work on this tonight.

    Alright here's an update.

Tonight I reformated my external HD and made it a primary/active partition. After I did this, the games started working for me . So that is just about great.

Two downsides doh, when I start up some games, they like flicker at the start up (I think they change in video signal or smt) and a few of them look realy ugly after that. Like there's a blurry filter over some. I'm not too sure I can help or workaround this, maybe from the Neogamma menu..?

The other thing is that once you load a game from Neogamma and you wish to quit it and go to the Wii menu; once you do that and you want to load a new game via Neogamma, it says timeout. You need to restart the Wii and then it works like a charm again.

If you guys have something entering your mind as a response to my situation, feel free to type it out . (Maybe a better/more nice looking USB/PRE loader with images which would work on my setup).

I'm sorry for asking so much.... mainly I....

...I would like to thank you guys alot for the help you provided with both your responses earlier. They realy helped me out there .

    Thanks
