I have a 128gig usb drive formatted using the WBFS and have a few loaded games onto it. My wii is hard modded with the latest 4.2 firmware and i want to be able to use my HDD to load games onto.
I was able to load the homebrew channel onto my wii (version 1.05) and it keeps asking me to upgrade it to 1.06 so i do but when i reboot it goes back to 1.05
What other steps am i missing here? I really want to play "the new super mario bros" and they say thats the only way to do it now :(
You need to read a few guides. Just search for it. I would love to help but you are far from getting that working just yet. Make sure you dont ever Uninstall IOS 60, and make sure you have BootMii2 with your nand backed up. BootMii is recommended just in case your Wii Bricks. Honestly I installed and uninstalled a lot of things and never bricked, but dont ever uninstall any ios bellow 200.

I tried the main guide on this site and it freezes on the 2nd part when i go into bootmii i cant select anything. My wii remote stops working and wont let me press "A" or "home". I even tried plugging in a gamecube controller and thats a no go too :(
so how do i get past that?
try reinstalling priiloader, make sure you've cleanly unmounted the sd card at all times, and check to see if button jams in your controllers are causing the issue.Quote:

sorry posted that in the wrong place sorry for that, but more importantly if you're having trouble doing this through the auto update you should try to do it manually Homebrew Channel - WiiBrew that should get you where you need to be, if it does not do what the user above posted good luckQuote:

yes the GC controller works cause i used it in the menu to make a nand backup :)
Can you confirm that it does update and then reverts back or are you just assuming it has reverted as it asks you to update again?

Does it matter that its hard modded with a d2ckey?
and yes i backed up my nand onto my computer then formatted it then loaded up package #2 for the 2nd step.
