    Can't start Trucha bug restorer

    Hi all,

I have a 4.2E Wii and trying to run TBR 1.1 from HBC. But when I select load a progress bar (I think) goes up and then down really quick and then the screen just goes black. Don't even think TBR is started.

    Anyone got any ideas please?

Follow this guide for 4.2 hacking. You can't use the Trucha Bug Restorer on 4.2
    4.2U || BootMii beta 4 (boot2) || DVDx v2 || HBC 1.0.8 || cIOS 38 r17 || WiiFlow R254-249 Carbonik || Triiforce MRC SS || MPlayer CE 0.76 || WiiRadio 0.4

Make sure you are using the right tools for 4.2.

Thanks guys but I sorted it out (somehow!).

It was either one of these, or both:
I tried on a different SD card.
I put back the banner bomb on the SD card (removed earlier because I didn't think I needed it after having run hackmii and installed HBC).

    Synic,
Yes, it possible now to run TBR on 4.2!

Interesting, it never worked for me and I was told that it didn't work. I also said that it wasn't needed as it's not a part of the usual 4.2 hacking guide. Oh well, I didn't need it to hack my wii.

By the way, since this is my first thread:

(Just found the rule announcement in THIS forum. Guess I'm up to my knees now.... )
I know that one of the rules is to post on the correct forum/thread.

Can I for example ask the following question here? (Or have I just broken the "use correct forum/place" rule)!:

I've now softmoded my Wii. Do I need to install preloader? Since I don't have bootmii on boot2 the brick protection sounds nice. But then again I only intend to install a usb loader (like wiiflow maybe) and play games, not doing alot of modding the wii and running homebrews.
Is there any official site where I can get more info about preloader?
Is Priiloader the installer for Preloader?
If yes, will Priiloader rev15 install Preloader v.030 (this is the latest right?).

    Preloader - WiiBrew
    Preloader/Priiloader - WiiBrew

priiloader is an updated ver of preloader(u can run bootmii IOS from prilloader), but remember it does not protect from FULL bricks like boot2. you should be fine and just install priiloader

trucha bug repair 1.1 is the only one that works on 4.2 but the steps are.....

    1. Run the Trucha bug Restorer with the Homebrew Channel. Press B (This will set No IOS Reload). Now wait a while (till the text changes) and press 1. Choose Downgrade IOS15. Now you have to choose Download IOS from NUS two times. It will do its thing and return to the HBC.

    2. Run TBR again. Change the IOS to IOS15 and press A (not B !). Wait for the text to change and press 1. Go to the IOS36 menu. Change the last option to YES (so all 3 options show YES). Leave the first option to 36 and choose Install patched IOS36. Change the option to Download from NUS and press A. Once its done it will quit to the HBC again.

    3. Run TBR once more. Be sure it says IOS36 and press A , then 1 when the text changes. Choose Restore IOS15. Change the option to Download from NUS, press A and let the app finish.

    4. Run Any Title Deleter MOD and choose IOS36 and press A. Navigate to System Titles and press A. Find IOS 222, 223, 249, 250. Press A twice to uninstall them.

    5.Then intstall your cios38 rev 14

    6. Time to patch our System menu IOS (IOS70) to run wads from SD card menu
    * Run DOP-IOS.If it asks what cIOS to use, choose 36. On the next screen, go right (sometimes left) till you see IOS70. Choose yes for every option and let it install. Reboot your wii.

    Thanks Dami!

    92intra,
That is pretty much the guide I was following. The problem was not how to do it, but why it didn't start. Anyways, thanks for the effort!
